what i do
As a gay therapist with specialist training and Advanced Accreditation through Pink Therapy, I offer LGBTQ+ affirming therapy for people navigating shame, anxiety, trauma, relationships, identity and self worth.
My APPROACH
My approach to counselling is integrative, relational, trauma informed, and grounded in a person centred philosophy. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted without judgement.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs, experiences, and goals. These include Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), mindfulness based approaches, Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy, and trauma informed ways of working, particularly in relation to complex and relational trauma.
Alongside my private practice, I work two afternoons a week as a counsellor at the University of Salford, supporting students with a wide range of mental health and wellbeing challenges.
flexible counselling options
I understand that life, work, relationships, energy levels, and personal circumstances can all affect what feels manageable when starting counselling. That’s why I offer flexible counselling options, including both online and in person sessions from my Manchester city centre practice.
Some clients prefer the comfort, privacy, and convenience of online counselling, particularly if they feel anxious travelling, have demanding schedules, or live outside Manchester. Others value the dedicated physical space that in person counselling can provide, away from the distractions and pressures of everyday life.
For many LGBTQ+ people, flexibility can also feel important emotionally. Finding an affirming counsellor you genuinely connect with isn’t always easy, and online counselling can make specialist LGBTQ+ support more accessible regardless of location.
Together, we can decide what feels most supportive, practical, and comfortable for you.
Why Choose Online Counselling?
Online counselling allows you to access support from the comfort of your own space, without the time, cost, or stress of travelling to appointments.
For neurodivergent clients, online therapy can also offer greater control over the environment. You can choose your own lighting, seating, sensory supports, and level of comfort. You’re welcome to fidget, move around, use comfort objects, look away from the screen, or have your camera off if that feels easier.
I aim to provide a space where you don’t have to mask or pretend to be someone you’re not. Therapy should feel like a place where you can show up as yourself and be accepted as you are.
Whether you’re seeking support with anxiety, relationships, self esteem, identity, neurodivergence, or other life challenges, online counselling offers a flexible and accessible way to access support.
