Emotional Regulation
Emotional regulation is the ability to manage and respond to emotional experiences in ways that are constructive and aligned with personal values. Many clients seek support when they feel overwhelmed by intense emotions such as anger, anxiety, sadness, or shame. These feelings may arise from current stressors, unresolved past experiences, or challenges in relationships. Therapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore the roots of emotional patterns and to develop healthier ways of understanding and managing them.
In our work together, we can explore how emotions function in your life—what triggers them, how they are expressed, and how they affect your relationships and sense of self. I draw from evidence-based approaches, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and compassion-focused strategies, to help you build emotional awareness and resilience.
Whether you’re struggling with emotional outbursts, emotional numbness, or feeling stuck in cycles of guilt or fear, therapy can provide clarity, support, and practical tools for change. Over time, you can learn to respond rather than react, make space for difficult emotions, and regain a sense of control and stability. Emotional regulation is a skill that can be developed, and you don’t have to do it alone.
