Not My circus not my monkey

🔹 Sometimes, it can feel almost impossible to step back from other people’s chaos. You might notice yourself getting pulled into drama that isn’t really yours to manage, leaving you drained and overstretched.

🔹 These patterns often have deep roots. They might come from growing up in a family where you had to be the peacekeeper, or where your needs were overlooked so you learned to put others first.

🔹 You may have been taught that your value lies in being useful, or that saying no makes you selfish.

🔹 For some, focusing on other people’s problems becomes a way of avoiding looking at their own pain or needs.

🔹 The trouble is, this cycle rarely brings balance. Instead it can leave you exhausted, resentful, and unsure where your responsibilities begin and end. You might find yourself constantly trying to fix things that were never yours to fix, or feeling guilty the moment you try to put yourself first.

🔹 In therapy, we can gently explore where these patterns started, how they’ve shaped your relationships, and what it would mean to break free of them.

🔹 Boundaries don’t have to mean pushing people away, they can mean finding healthier ways to protect your energy, value your needs, and build relationships that feel more equal.
