A lot of people move through adulthood carrying emotional wounds that began much earlier in life. Experiences like rejection, bullying, criticism, emotional neglect, or feeling unsafe to fully be ourselves can leave lasting effects on confidence, relationships, self worth, and emotional regulation.
For many LGBTQ+ people, younger parts of ourselves may still carry shame, fear, loneliness, or the feeling that we had to hide parts of who we were in order to feel accepted or safe. Even years later, those experiences can still quietly shape how we see ourselves and how we relate to other people.
In this video, I explore the idea of healing the inner child, reconnecting with parts of us that may have felt unseen or unsupported, and why therapy can help us better understand the emotional patterns we still carry into adulthood. If you’ve ever felt emotionally stuck, disconnected from yourself, or affected by experiences from earlier in life, I’d really encourage you to watch the video.
If any of this resonates with you and you’d like support exploring it further, I offer LGBTQ+ affirming therapy both online and in person from my practice in Manchester city centre. You’re welcome to get in touch to arrange a free 15 minute introductory call.
