Advanced Accredited GSRD Therapist With Pink Therapy

What Advanced Accreditation with Pink Therapy Means

As an Advanced Accredited GSRD Therapist with Pink Therapy, I provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy online and in person from my practice in Manchester city centre.

Pink Therapy is one of the UK’s leading organisations specialising in LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy and GSRD therapy. Their accreditation process recognises therapists who demonstrate advanced competence, experience and affirmative practice in working with LGBTQ+ people and diverse gender, sexual and relationship communities.

For me, this work has never simply been about qualifications or titles. It’s about creating a therapeutic space where LGBTQ+ people feel genuinely safe, understood and accepted without having to minimise, explain or defend who they are.

Why LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy Matters

Many LGBTQ+ people grow up navigating shame, rejection, bullying, invisibility or the pressure to hide parts of themselves in order to feel accepted. Even years later, those experiences can continue shaping self worth, relationships, anxiety levels, emotional regulation and sense of identity.

Sometimes this can show up as hypervigilance, people pleasing, perfectionism, difficulties with boundaries, fear of rejection or feeling disconnected from yourself. Often these are not signs that something is “wrong” with you, but understandable responses to difficult environments and experiences.

Working with a therapist who understands LGBTQ+ lived experiences can help reduce the need to educate the person sitting opposite you. Therapy can instead become a space where your experiences are recognised within their wider social, emotional and cultural context.

Alongside my professional training and accreditation, I also bring lived experience as a gay man and therapist. I understand how minority stress, internalised shame, identity development, relationships and belonging can shape mental health across the lifespan.
